dyed Merino wool tops at dying facility in Valle Mosso

Dyeing facility, Valle Mosso, Italy

In 1876, Giuseppe Botto established his wool mill at the foothill of the Italian Alps in Valle Mosso, Biella. For more than 140 years the Botto family has been using their passion for product and nature to create premium quality natural yarns. Now, in their fourth generation the family runs the company with great care and attentiveness to the challenges of the future. As the family puts it: “Research is our philosophy of life and the beginning and the end of each collection.”

Over the past decade this philosophy has translated into an effort to develop a chain from sheep to yarn that is run according to the rigorous Cradle to Cradle Certified™ requirements. Vertical integration of their Made in Italy operation and long term partnerships with the sheep farms have a been the key to their success.

It currently is the only mill in the world that has achieved a Cradle to Cradle Certified™ Gold status for woollen yarns. A testimony of their dedication to create a better world for future generations.
